08 Dec Transforming Knowledge into Change | Ravi’s Journey in Healthcare
When I reflect on the path I’ve taken since 2004, it feels surreal. What started as a commitment to social impact has turned into a lifelong mission to create meaningful change, particularly in healthcare. From working in child welfare and poverty alleviation to focusing on agricultural development, my early projects taught me the value of perseverance and the power of collective action. However, it was my transition into healthcare a decade ago that truly shaped my purpose.
After earning my master’s degree in social work from Zimbabwe’s DAPP Frontline Institute, I felt a deep drive to make a difference. That experience not only broadened my worldview but also taught me to approach challenges with empathy and resilience. These skills became my foundation as I stepped into the healthcare space, where I have spent the past ten years learning, collaborating, and driving change.
My journey in healthcare has been rooted in practice. From engaging with local communities to working alongside doctors and healthcare specialists, I’ve gained a holistic understanding of healthcare implementation. This hands-on approach has been crucial in navigating the unique challenges of public health, particularly in underserved areas.
Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of serving as Head of Operations (Implementation) at CAPED (Cancer Awareness, Prevention, and Early Detection). This role has been immensely rewarding, allowing me to lead over 100 awareness seminars in educational institutions and rural communities.
These sessions are not just about spreading knowledge but about breaking stigmas, especially around women’s health issues like cervical and breast cancer. At first, addressing these topics as a man was met with skepticism, and I often found myself questioning how I could gain the trust of women on such deeply personal matters.
The journey wasn’t easy. But my determination to save lives kept me focused. With time and effort, I built a rapport with the women I worked with, creating an environment where they felt comfortable sharing their concerns. This trust is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work—knowing that I’ve helped make healthcare more accessible and approachable for so many.
My work has also involved close collaboration with government stakeholders to develop programs aimed at improving public healthcare systems in various districts. These partnerships have reinforced my belief in the power of collective effort and innovation to drive lasting change.

Looking Ahead
As I look to the future, I remain committed to creating a positive impact. Whether it’s through addressing critical healthcare issues, building awareness, or improving systems, I believe that every step, no matter how small, contributes to a healthier society. Giving back continues to be my greatest reward—a constant reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.
The road ahead is filled with challenges, but it’s also filled with opportunities to make a difference. And that, for me, makes every step worth it.
