It is our duty to educate each and every woman about this life threatening disease; cervical cancer is more of a cry for help. In this blog are enumerated the various warning signs that indicate the presence of cancer in your cervix.
It is important to understand that if you experience any of the following symptoms, you already have cancer of the cervix. Cancer in its initial precancerous stages shows no or little symptoms. These signs show only after the abnormalities have developed into fully blown intensive cancer.
We urge you to see a gynaecologist immediately if you have ever experienced any of the following symptoms :
- Unusual bleeding – In most cases this is the first and the most noticeable symptoms of cancer. This may include bleeding in any of the following unusual forms
- During or after intercourse
- Between your menstrual periods
- After you have been through menopause
- Unusually long or heavier menstrual periods
- Unpleasant vaginal discharge – If you experience any changes in the vaginal discharge which may foul smelling discharge, you need to visit a doctor immediately.
- Discomfort during intercourse
- Pain in your lower back and pelvis
- Losing control of bladder and bowel
- Blood in your pee
- Swelling in one or both of your legs
Experiencing any of the above symptoms is a sure sign of contracting cervical cancer. Moreover, some of these only show after the cancer has reached an advance stage. CAPED’S aim is to not let any women reach such a stage and be able to detect and prevent the disease in the initial stages itself. But, if you experience any of these symptoms you need to visit your gynaecologist at the earliest, before it becomes a problem you can never find a cure for.
We cannot reiterate enough that cervical cancer is the only preventable cancer, provided it is detected and treated timely. Why delay it any further! Why take the risk of being just another statistic! Take the reign of your health into your own hands.
Visit your gynaecologist now and help CAPED create a Cervical Cancer Mukt Bharat.
